OWNER OF LOCAL BURGER JOINT PLANS ON REDECORATING AFTER INVINCIBLE UNITED WRECKED THEIR WALL

If you’re a Super League fan that’s ever visited Cosmos’ home stadium, The Universe, there’s a good chance you might’ve been recommended a popular burger joint just a few miles away called: ‘Super Strikin’ Sliders’.
Super Strikin’ Sliders isn’t only loved by the locals, but by fans visiting out of the country AND by Super League teams themselves! Standing strong and serving what many call the ‘best burgers in all of Hollywood’—especially so by Keller, Cosmos’ own goalkeeper—this restaurant and it’s owner have served just about every team. They’ve had the honor of being visited by many iconic soccer figures such as Golari, De Los Santos, and even Supa Strika’s very own Coach when he was younger!
Recently, after an exciting and intense match between Invincible United & Cosmos, the former coming out on top, winning 3 - 1, and had decided to stop by for a bite before heading back home.
“I’ve served Invincible United plenty’a times before,” Super Strikin’ Sliders’ owner, Corrie Anderson, had told me during our virtual interview, “Pretty sure all the guys there know the menu by heart at this point.” Despite how thick & bushy his gray beard was, his wide smile still shone through, “Heck, I used t’serve Vince and Coach before they went their separate ways!”
Corrie had gone into detail about what happened the day of Invincible United’s visit.
“They were all riled up—and I mean, who wouldn’t be? Did’ja catch the game?! It was fantastic!” He threw his arms up and for a brief moment, made the logo on his white & red bordered apron visible. It was a picture of 3 small burgers in a swooped position, the biggest burger at the front had a soccer ball pattern on the bun. It popped out nicely against his dusty-yellow shirt.
“But—but, they came in practically bouncin’ off the walls. See, that’s the best thing bout working here, seeing those players acting like kids again—gettin’ all excited and screaming over each other bout what their favorite part of the game was…” He stroked his beard for a moment, the tips of his light, brass-colored fingers getting lost in the hair.
He repositioned himself in the red booth he was sitting in, “They came in, all loud ’n excited, and they ordered about a million things—Vince ordered the same thing he always does—then they sat down boouuut…” Corrie turned around then pointed to the booths on the far left end of the restaurant. The booths were close to the entrance, blocked off by yellow caution tape with several signs telling customers not to touch the scene, and framed in the center of those booths appeared to be a large dent in the light beige drywall. The outline of the dent roughly resembled the upper half of a man’s body.
“There!” He said before facing the screen again, “My crew ’n I started cooking, Invincible United was getting louder, no big deal, but then—“ He dramatically waved his hand across the camera, “—I stepped outta the kitchen to drop off the first couple’a trays, when suddenly I saw Snake throw his whole body against Skarra! Made th’kid leave a body-sized hole in my wall!”
When asked if he knew what lead up to the scene, or if anyone was hurt, Corrie swatted at the air, “Nah, s’just rough housin’. I don’t mind it—I encourage it, actually! Skarra ’n Snake were laughing th’whole time, but the second they made that hole they just stopped. Eyes got all wide and everythin’.” He recreated said-expression.
“Honestly, I think Vince was more mad about it than me!” He said with a laugh, “I was about to tell ‘em it was all good, and maybe to settle down a tad so they can sit and enjoy their food, but Vince started yellin’ at them for ‘making a scene’ and how ‘they’ll pay outta pocket for the repairs’, but I really didn’t mind.”
Corrie Anderson was then asked if he planned on doing anything about the damages, or if he’s reached out to Invincible United’s legal team in regards to the hole.
“Are you kidding me? Fix up an Invincible-United made hole?!” He looked shocked at the mere suggestion, “As soon as the team left, I had bout several people run up and ask if they could take pictures with it! So that gave me an idea…”
He leaned closer to the camera and propped an elbow up on the table, “I’m reorganizing the whole left section of my place, yeah? I’m gonna surround it with a bunch’a United merch & photos my wife ’n I have collected over the years, and I’m gonna place ‘em around the hole. I’m gonna advertise it a ton, build up that excitement, then—if people wanna get some pictures or check it out a few days early—they can pay a small fee! Or they can wait for the day of th’reveal and get a pic free of charge! Good deal for any Invincible United fan out there, huh?”
That concludes the virtual interview with the founder of ‘Super Strikin’ Sliders’. If you’re ever around the Hollywood area, definitely check it out!
