NAME:
Max Spacex
TEAM:
Orion
JERSEY #:
08
POSITION:
Defender
Q&A:
You got a favorite planet?
Mars, easily.
What’s it like being on the same team as your brother?
Sucks bad. All he does is get in the way, take my passes, and steal the ball even when it’s clearly being sent to me! It drives me crazy! And oh—don’t get me started on after our games. Anytime I try to get away from him and hang out with the guys, three minutes later he’ll come waltzing in and ruin everything! Gah—I swear, it’s like he sets up an alarm so he knows when to bother me!
So you’re not too fond of your brother, is there anyone on your team you do like to hang out with instead?
Andre’s awesome, he knows when it’s time to get rough during practice and it rocks, same with Neil. Phinus is a real chill guy, and man, he doesn’t mess around with being a goalie. Ben—I know he means well or whatever, but I wish he’d let me deal with Stax myself.
Did you always want to play for Orion? Or did you have another team in mind?
Course I did! Have you seen our coach’s strats? They’re outta this world! Why wouldn’t I wanna be a part of a team like that?! You wanna know something, though? I never told Stax I was gonna be joining Orion, I just said I was gonna try out for the Super League, and he said he was also gonna try out, but said something stupid like: ‘I’m gonna join the team full of stars’, so I thought he was gonna join Cosmo cause they’re all obnoxious—and they got that star on their uniform—but then I went to try-outs and he was there! He totally copied me!
Speaking of your coach, would you say you’re as fond of space as he is?
Hm, I like it, but I think I could like it more if I took some time to learn about it. I mean, I know some stuff, but it feels real basic. Kinda makes me feel like a jerk, we’re the space team. I’ve tried to pop in and ask Coach Black some questions, listen to him, but—ugh, Stax always comes in five minutes later and ruins it. I like hearing our coach talk, though.
How do you prepare for a game?
Andre, Phinus, Canis, and I get to the stadium in the late afternoon and stay up all night working out! We don’t get tired too easily, so it’s great to have the place to ourselves.
And what do you do after a game?
If we finish a game in the day, I go home and crash, ha! But, uh, hm… Evening games, sometimes I’ll walk around the city and uh, see where I end up, I guess. I dunno, something nice about going through the empty streets and checking out a bookstore or a coffee place I didn’t see before. If I find a cool place, I let Andre and the others know, and we’ll hang around there.
