"TOO RELIANT ON TECHNOLOGY." SAYS URA GIRI ABOUT COACH BLACK
Maci Gian
Nakama has already settled into France and has wasted no time jumping right into their training! Fans have spotted the away-team doing their warm up stretches at nearby parks, followed by running throughout the streets at the crack of dawn. Before the city gets too busy, they’ll then retreat into the Soccersphere until the sun sets, most likely doing nothing but more training.
Nakama fans—both the locals and the ones who’ve traveled to watch—are disappointed they’ve yet to interact with the team due to these absurd hours. Ura Giri, on the other hand has been more than pleased with the consistency of their routine. Nakama always gives it their all when it comes to preparation, but people have noticed they’ve been particularly more intense than usual, which has lead to some Orion fans speculating that Nakama’s coach might be intimidated by Coach Black.
While certainly not intimidating in the same way Vince or Colonel Von Pushup are, Coach Black’s intelligence and constant influx of strategies has made him a lethal force to go against. His drive to find solutions to anything and everything his team may face has put him high up on the Super League ranks, nearly on par with Supa Strikas’ very own coach!
When reporters of Futbol Planeta were finally able to pin point Nakama’s location to ask if the rumor was true, he laughed.
“I am anything but.” He said, “What Coach Black does on the field is nothing more than a mere performance.”
He continued.
“It is easy to fool people into thinking you are a ’genius’ when you divert their attention elsewhere. Coach Black has mastered it. All he is doing is teaching his boys how to make the bare minimum look ’extravagant’ as a means to distract the opposition. When you truly study their moves? You’re quick to realize how basic they are.”
Ura Giri was questioned how he was planning on combating against Orion’s strategy. Whether it’s truly nothing more than a ’show’ or not doesn’t make it any less effective, seeing as they’ve bested many teams before them, including Supa Strikas! If distraction is as big of an issue as he claims it to be, he’ll need a solid plan to keep his players focused.
“Supa Strikas’ coach is out of touch, he is too caught up in his own world.” Ura Giri responded at the mention of the team, “I have seen how he behaves at the Disciplinary Board—at those terrible coach-meetings they host—he’s a fool with technology. He can hardly figure out his own phone. I am not surprised the likes of him would get outsmarted by someone too reliant on technology. When you take away Coach Black’s shiny, little contraptions, though? When you take away his toys? He is helpless. I fear no man that cannot rely on himself.”
As for how he was preparing his players? Here’s what he had to say:
“We use the simplest method, which has also been the one that has worked for centuries: Keep your eye on the ball. Do not pay any mind to their fancy tricks, do not so much as glance at their strange moves, just focus. On. The ball.”
Unfortunately, the interview had to be cut short, as Ura Giri had to put his focus back on Nakama. It seems it’ll be nothing but non-stop training for them until the day of the game!
Is their simple strategy really as effective as Ura Giri claims? Or is it outdated? With how fast and constant the Super League’s technology is improving, maybe it’s a sign to move on from these old methods and create something new… Or perhaps he’s right. Maybe the best strategies are the age-old traditions that have been upheld to this very day. As the saying goes: “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
We’ll have to wait and see what happens when Nakama face Orion!
