WHAT HAPPENED TO THE OLD HUB?

Maci Gian

Hi guys! I’ve been checking my emails on and off while we’ve been traveling, and I was surprised to see I got multiple emails asking me about what happened to Technicali’s old Hub. I mentioned in another article that it got closed down, but didn’t elaborate since the Disciplinary Board were the ones who released an official statement and I thought everyone was aware, but I completely neglected the fact that not everyone keeps tabs on Technicali, and that new fans are constantly joining the Super League, so they might not know this sorta stuff!

Anyways, the old Hub, right? This place:

The Old Hub in question!

I said it’s ‘closed down’, but frankly, it’s in this weird limbo state? I’m pretty sure it’s still in the process of being shut down, but there’s still people who visit it, Super League Agents that come and go, and once in a blue moon, a game will be hosted there, but I’m pretty sure it’s because those games were already scheduled well in advance to take place there, and whichever teams were set to play probably spent too much time and money to do a sudden reschedule for the new Hub. That’s my theory, anyways. I’m working off of a section of the SLDB’s statement:

“…Those who had bought tickets for upcoming games here can reach out to us or The Hub’s staff (for a refund)…We also recommend waiting for a follow-up statement from us and the higher ups at the Super League for the updated in game schedules, as not every game is set to change…”

With the few games that had taken place at the old Hub, people were apparently issued to leave the stadium as soon as they ended, and if any fans wanted merch, they rather had to go to the other Hub, or use Technicali’s online store. I’ve been to the old Hub a couple of times way before this shut down was announced, so I never got to experience this first hand (knowing my luck I probably would’ve gotten lost AGAIN.)

So what happened? What happened in the old Hub that made the Super League agents feel they needed to shut it down? To get the public out as soon as possible?

This happened real soon after their match against Supa Strikas, where they lost 2 - 3, and after Technicali was interviewed for their strange performance—going from stellar soccer stars to standing around aimlessly, practically watching Supa Strikas plow through them—they provided more questions than answers when most of them stated they couldn’t recall a single thing after they had stepped foot into their stadium.

Toni was already under hot water that same evening, one of his inventions being linked back to the stolen Supa Strikas Secret Training Manual, and was scheduled to have a check in with the Disciplinary Board for questioning and to make sure there weren’t any other stolen artifacts, but to have all his players not remember what happened the day before and during their game made agents worry about unethical training methods or a gas leak of some sort, both of which Toni denied.

The inspection happened shortly after, and what was originally supposed to be a day’s work for the agents ended up taking well over a week.

The Disciplinary Board released statements throughout that following week, and the week after, alongside Toni as they delved into the old Hub and the lab within it. Some of this included:

  • Multiple large screens with ’hundreds’ (no specified amount) of wires connected to control panels.
  • One of these computers had wires attached to multiple test tubes large enough to fit people inside of them.
  • Another computer had a robot with an ‘uncanny resemblance’ to Cool Joe hooked up to it. Agents mentioned it looked battered.
  • A strange sphere filled with an unspecified fluid suspended in the air via wires and pipes, and looked big enough to contain someone. Outer layer’s material was compared to ‘a stretchy yet durable plastic’ from one agent, another compared it to rubber. Heavily speculated to have been the latest invention Toni created before the agents came in, as it appeared the most refined and untouched compared to his other inventions. Toni stated it was made for ‘training purposes’.
  • A room in the far back of the stadium with a giant screen that was playing a video on loop. Said video was apparently so unsettling that the Disciplinary Board refused to show pictures of it, and denied any news crew from stepping foot into the Hub in fear they’d reveal it to the public. This screen and the footage was one of the first things to get taken down, though fans heavily speculate the Board recorded the video and locked it away in a vault somewhere.

That’s all the information the Disciplinary Board shared with the public, and given how Toni is constantly inventing new ways to help him and his team secure a victory—whether it’s fair or not—it wouldn’t surprise me if there’s so much more stashed away in his lab that the Board’s yet to reveal.

But if they can’t reveal it yet—or don’t want to reveal it—why?

What did Toni have in there that needed to remain hidden?

Technicali fans were especially antsy about what Toni and the agents were hiding, many believing he had documents that contained enough information to ‘completely destroy the other teams’, maps with complete layouts of all the other stadiums, all the way down to their wiring systems and security cameras, super computers constantly keeping track of their opponents’ every move, some even believed he had a cloning room and nanobots.

Take all of this with a grain of salt, though, as I’m sure Technicali fans are just echoing what they’ve heard Toni Vern claim time and time again any time he’s out on the field.

The agents removed anything in there that was deemed ’dangerous’ or could give Technical the unfair advantage, and Toni had agreed to let the Disciplinary Board use them however they needed to so long as he got to stay in the Super League. There’s one old-ish interview floating around the web where, when Toni was asked what he was going to do moving forward, Toni said he was tasked to help make the Board a new security system to be on ‘decent terms’ with them again.

I wish I had saved that interview, but I know it’s out there. I even remember Agents 1 & 2 being beside Toni, reassuring people they’d be keeping a keen eye on him as he helped out so he didn’t sneak anything malicious into their systems.

Technicali players were also seen constantly moving between the old Hub and the Disciplinary Board’s building, helping the agents with removing Toni’s devices. There were a few attempts made to interview them, but they didn’t provide many answers.

Chuck T. Chipperson looked the most uncomfortable when questioned how he felt about everything that was unraveling, to which he said:

“It’s a shame—I wish things didn’t have to play out like this, but we’ll be fine. We’ll keep going. Toni has a plan after all of this, anyways, he always does.”

Kyle Kowalski and Rocky George were asked for their thoughts on an evening they were helping the Board.

“I don’t know—I’m sorry, I just don’t know.” Kyle responded, “I remember playing against Supa Strikas—losing—we lost. Yeah, we lost, but I remember looking at the scoreboard, then at Toni, and then I went home. Anytime I try to think about what happened before the game, I just think back to Toni and I get—I shouldn’t be saying this about our coach. Sorry, I—I really want to finish moving stuff so we can get back to playing soccer, you know?”

“Toni’s just going to be cranky for a little while. No biggie.” Rocky George said, “Nothing really new here. Toni gets busted, we visit the Board, we listen to their yap-fest, then we leave and keep playing.” He huffed, “Just feels worse this time, for some reason. Hate working so early in the morning.”

Whatever else lies within the old Hub will probably remain there until the Disciplinary Board finishes tearing it down, and even then, who’s to say they’ll release it to the public? Maybe one of the Technicali players could tell us more, but given how loyal they seem to Toni despite everything, I have my doubts.

Hopefully one day we’ll get the full explanation as to what’s in the lab and what Toni’s players experienced on that fateful game against Supa Strikas, but for now, I hope all the information I’ve presented was enough to clear up some confusion!
